This particular brand is not carried by any department stores here in Singapore. I got my first Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet last year thru an online seller (Pinkpout SG). When I found out the latest color that they will release this year, I sent a query to the same seller but I have not received any response.

Lime Crime Velvetine Lipstick Review by Berryduchess - Unboxing

Upon checking their website, it looks like they are not having it anytime soon. I tried searching for other online sellers in Singapore but to no avail. I even tried checking sellers in Manila because I am really eager to have them in my makeup box. But the price is like almost the same if I purchase directly from Lime Crime.

Actually, let me change that because the total amount that I will pay will be slightly lower if I buy from their brand’s website, and that’s what I did. I placed my order and I chose to get their newly released velvetine in Utopia (of course!) and Wicked.  Each Velvetine costs US $20 and international shipping (flat rate) is at US$ 10.95.

ORDER PROCESS

To place an order, you have to create an account, put your contact details and choose the things you want to buy.  It is very easy like no sweat at all!  I completed my order last 26August and received the package on the 11th of Sept. It is clearly mentioned on their website that international delivery may take up to 6 weeks for delivery, but I am glad mine came in after 2 weeks 🙂

After unboxing my orders, I put out my very first Velvetine to officially welcome her sisters~

I loved the new packaging although, I kinda dig the engraved Unicorn on the cap of the previous Velvetines.

Packaging is important, yeah? But the performance of these products is far more important. Yes? According to Lime Crime, they have a “Ground-breaking formula that goes on liquid and dries completely matte. Touch-proof, transfer-proof, long-wearing and utterly addictive!”

As mentioned earlier, I used my Red Velvetine several times and I am satisfied with the performance. It really dries fast and leaves a completely matte texture on the lips (which I LOOOOOVE). However, I am more careful when I have it on, especially if I am attending dinners as there is always that possibility for the lipstick to sort of “bleed”. Take note, whenever I drink, I always use a straw just to make sure that my lipstick will not transfer or be erased so much. I am extra careful whenever I am in a matte lippie because I don’t want messy lips.  Who would ever want that, right? :))

Here is a photo of mine that I took when I was in London early this year (2014) and I was using my LimeCrime Velvetine in Red Velvet.

SWATCHES

As promised by Lime Crime, they improved the formula and that excites me to try the new ones. Here are my photos of Utopia and Wicked when I swatched them.

Unfortunately, the Utopia was not captured properly by my camera phone, but in person, I am in awe with the lovely color of this product.  It is perfection. 🙂 Below is a recent shot, wearing this beautiful color.

WICKED, on the other hand, is a matte burgundy red. I have been looking to have this shade of red for quite some time already and good thing I found it in their line.

Overall, I present to you my impression in these products:

  • Product  – 5 / 5
    • They improved their packaging.
    • Performance of the product:
      • I will give it another 5 out of 5. I think with the new formula, the lips are not as drying as it was with the previous velvetines. Also, I wore Utopia and had dinner later that evening (with a soup and took lots of fluid). After dinner, my lipstick is still in place; no bleeding (and I did not use a lip liner to start with); very, very minimal transfer on my glass.
  • Ease of Use – 4/5
    • I actually think that the new Velvetine dries a bit later compared to the previous formula. Personally, I think that it is better. You no longer need to wait for long to let it dry.
  • Price – 5/5
    •  For me,  it is reasonable for what it’s worth.
  • Customer Service  – 5/5
    • From creating an account, placing the order and paying for your items, it was easy-breezy. In their website, you can find a Customer Care section where you can read the FAQs (frequently asked questions). They also provide you with the complete details and updates about your order. Once the package has been shipped, you will receive the tracking number and may check it the status of your packages from time to time.

  • Shipping / Delivery – 5/5
    • Received my product in less than 6 weeks. I am happy with it. At least I was given a heads up on the time frame. 🙂
  • Will I purchase again?
    • Definitely and I will just buy directly from Lime Crime. 🙂
  • Will you recommend it?
    • Definitely.

What about you? Have you tried any of their velvetines?  What do you think?

    1. Hi Shilpa, I got Red Velvet last December 2013 and I can still use it and there was no change in texture, whatsoever, though generally, liquid lipsticks should be tossed out after max of 2 years. 🙂
