Not only that we were fortunate to have stayed in a hotel near a tube station, but it was also just a few steps away from the famous Borough Market.
Borough Market is one of the oldest food markets in London and if you are up for a variety of good stuff then you should include this in your list! 🙂 I went here to check out the stalls and to meet the mister so we can have lunch together. From breads to pastries to cheeses and sweets: They have a lot to offer. While checking everything out, I had a hard time choosing. I think I had to go around twice just to make up my mind.
Here are some of the photos that I took while I looked around. 🙂
While there are a lot of food stalls during lunch time, the full market is open on certain days and time. Here is their schedule:
OPEN FOR LUNCH:
Mondays – Tuesdays – 10am – 5pm
Wednesday-Thursdays – 10am – 5pm
Fridays – 10am – 6pm
Saturdays – 8am – 5pm
Unfortunately, I visited the place on a Tuesday and did not get to see the full market.
Did you know…
that some scenes from famous films were filmed on the streets around this market? 🙂
- Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
- Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
The Borough Market is located near the Southwark Cathedral also known as The Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Saviour and St Mary Overie. There are seats available in the yard where you can stay and eat the food bought from the food market.
