Though I had mixed feelings with the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation (review here), I had such high hopes for her concealer, or at least I expected to be amazed by the lasting power of this product.

I like the applicator of this concealer and according to KVD, it was inspired by an artist’s paintbrush and at the same time, the tapered tip allows you to reach corners while the wide base is to efficiently coat larger areas.

I picked up the shade Light 11 – Neutral because I want to try a concealer that matches my skin tone and it will be perfect for hiding blemishes. After using it for a week,  I’ve finally decided that I don’t like it and here are the reasons why.

KVD Lock It Concealer_review SWATCH

The KVD Lock-It Crème concealer reminds me a lot of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer but they differ when it comes to performance.

My main issue with this was that it didn’t work as a good under eye concealer. While I’ve read that some users had a hard time blending the product, it wasn’t my case. It was easy to apply and blend but it settles on the lines of the skin.

Note that for the purpose of testing the product, I didn’t use any correctors and eye creams. Also, I always set my under eye concealer with a translucent powder and on this photo, I used my Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder.

SPOT CONCEALING

I say it did a decent job on covering my pimple marks and scars, but if you have, say, raised pimples or very dark marks you will still need a colour corrector. It wore a good 6 hours before I removed it.

VERDICT

Like we always say, a product may not work out for you but they can be amazing for other people so this review is based solely on my experience with this concealer.

My rating: B-

I really want this product to work but it didn’t. The product did not meet my expectations and although it conceals my spots on other areas of my face, I prefer my concealer to do all the job, under eyes included. I still see myself picking up my favourite It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer or the Makeup Forever Ultra HD concealer over this. Those two works well, with or without eye cream & corrector.

  • Sold at 40 SGD at Sephora local and online stores.

    1. aww so sweet of you to say that. Thank you! At times I’m lazy as a reader kasi and I’m the type who likes photos so when I do reviews, I put myself on the shoes of the readers. Will they get bored? Will I bombard them with details? hehe Sometimes I get dizzy when there are so many words tas I get sad if there are no photos to look at. hehe (like a kiddo)
