Jonker Walk is one of the famous spots in Melaka, but our trip on a Thursday evening was a bust because according to the cab driver, this famous street is only open from Friday-Sundays. No wonder almost 75% of the establishments were closed. 😅
Jonker Walk is just around 1 km away from our hotel and since we have nothing to do that afternoon, we chose to walk the streets of Melaka. It was a really quiet street and pretty empty, too. The body of water that you can see is the Melaka River
CHAN BOON CHENG BRIDGE
The Jonker Walk is the Chinatown street of Melaka, Malaysia located along Jonker Street.
This area, opposite Jonker Walk, reminds me so much of our Quiapo, Manila in the Philippines. It was a crowded part of the street and you can find a lot of stalls selling different things. There are also fully decorated (with bright lights & booming sounds) tricycle-like rides offering tourists a tour around the streets nearby.
This giant banana!!!
This is a big bread with chicken curry inside.
Jonker Walk is the best place to visit and buy souvenirs or if you want to go for a food trip. Too bad we didn’t see this street in full colour and action. We’re supposed to return the following day, but he’s a bit under the weather and we chose to spend the whole day in our room to get enough rest.
