When Life Gives You Lululemons by Laura Weisenberg | BOOK REVIEW

A Greenwich Mother Starter Pack:

Let’s be clear: Emily Charlton does not do the suburbs. After leaving Miranda Priestly, she’s been working in Hollywood as an image consultant to the stars, but recently, Emily’s lost a few clients. She’s hopeless with social media. The new guard is nipping at her heels. She needs a big opportunity, and she needs it now.

When Karolina Hartwell, a gorgeous former supermodel, is arrested for a DUI, her fall from grace is merciless. Her senator-husband leaves her, her Beltway friends disappear, and the tabloids pounce. In Karolina, Emily finds her comeback opportunity. But she quickly learns Greenwich is a world apart and that this comeback needs a team approach.

So it is that Emily, the scorned Karolina, and their mutual friend Miriam, a powerful attorney turned stay-at-home suburban mom, band together to not only navigate the social land mines of suburban Greenwich but win back the hearts of the American public. Along the way, an indispensable ally emerges in one Miranda Priestly.

T H O U G H T S…

This is one of the (many) books that I excitedly waited for 2018 and it’s so worth it! I was in Manila when this hit the bookstores in Singapore and my loving husband bought it on day 1. 🙂 This novel is not for the faint-hearted because it’s damn fearless & hilarious and I found myself laughing a lot of times. LAUGHING OUT LOUD, to be exact. One time, I was reading in a café while on my headset and I suddenly burst out laughing and people looked at me because I surely looked like a crazy woman with a big hair. HAHA!

Some explicit, but totally hilarious content!

For mature audience, but not on a Rated R sense. We’re not talking about the 50 Shades of Grey kind. The characters talk about vagina repairs as casual as recommending which moisturiser to try.

This novel talked about:

  • friendship
  • rich people problems
  • social media & political ambitions
  • women problems when it comes to married life, ageing & the after-effects of giving birth which by the way, happens in real life.
  • Sex toys, sexcapades & the likes.

Karolina, honey, you're a supermodel and super rich, so I hope you get a smudge-proof mascara, like, ASAP!

LESS SEX doesn't mean you love each other LESS.

This book is truly a good summer read! One of the best chick lits that I’ve read so far and what can I say? Laura W, I’m hooked! I can’t wait to read more from this author. Have you read any Laura Weisberg’s books? Any recommendations?
