Here are the titles that I chose not to finish because of a lot of things – some were boring and some were plainly awful… like, OMG! Why did I even bother! – that kind of regret! It may just be me, and some people may consider them one of their best reads, but again it is what it is. And without further explanation, here they are:
1. LESS by Andrew Sean Greer
I had high hopes for this one because it’s won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, but I swear! My eyes were shutting while reading this! I tried picking it up twice and then I gave up. I think, this is by far, the least fun read that I had. Not even sorry to say it.
2. The Glitch by Elisabeth Cohen
Let me start here by saying that this book got low reviews from Goodreads, but then I thought, maybe I will find it good? The synopsis was interesting but when I started going thru the pages, it’s awful. The main character is painful to take and when I reached the end of chapter 2, it’s clearly a NO for me.
3. A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman
I bought this book because Ove reminded me of my mother. I reached around chapter 7 or 8? But didn’t get the chance to pick it up again, or maybe I didn’t like it that much? There were funny parts but I didn’t like the author’s style of writing.
Reading a new book is like going on a date – you give them your time and hope that the other party will make it worthwhile. Or perhaps, sweep you off your feet thru their story & colourful & relatable characters. Or simply make you laugh or amaze you thru unexpected plot twists. That’s reading for me. It’s should be an experience; A wonderful kind experience. And just like a boring date, if they don’t excite me, I’m off to meet a new one who’s gonna make me forget time for a while.
That’s everything I have on my DNF. What about you? Have you read any of these books? Do you have your own list? Let me know!
